WHAT IS THE FEDERAL STUDENT AID PROGRAM?

The Federal Student Aid program is the largest provider of financial aid for education in the U.S. You’ve probably heard about financial aid for college—but can you get financial aid for trade school? The majority of students attending Â鶹ÊÓƵ receive financial aid funding from the Federal Student Aid program (from the U.S. Department of Education). You are strongly encouraged to apply for these programs even if you don’t believe you will qualify for much aid. You may be surprised by how much financial aid for trade school is available!

FEDERAL STUDENT GRANTS & LOANS FOR TRADE SCHOOL

Eligible individuals can receive federal student loans and federal grants for trade school. At Â鶹ÊÓƵ, we participate in the following federal student aid programs:

  • FEDERAL PELL GRANT
  • Federal Pell is a need-based grant that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility for a Federal Pell grant is based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) figure that is created as a result of your FAFSA application. The highest awards go to students with the lowest EFCs, with award amounts decreasing as the EFC increases. from the U.S. Department of Education.
  • FEDERAL SEOG GRANT
  • Federal SEOG is also a need-based grant that does not need to be repaid. To receive an SEOG Grant at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, you must be eligible to receive a Pell grant (see above) and have a very low EFC figure. Generally, Â鶹ÊÓƵ only receives enough funding each year to award SEOG to students with an EFC of zero. from the U.S. Department of Education.
  • FEDERAL WORK-STUDY
  • A limited number of part-time jobs are available through the Federal Work-Study program. Students must meet the basic eligibility requirements and have financial need. Work-study job placements are made once students begin classes. from the U.S. Department of Education.
  • FEDERAL DIRECT STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM
  • All students at Â鶹ÊÓƵ who meet the eligibility requirements are able to borrow a traditional student loan from the Federal Direct Student Loan Â鶹ÊÓƵ. The interest accrued on these loans may be . Payments usually begin six months after you leave school. from the U.S. Department of Education.
